OUR STORY

Although we work primarily out of Lagos—with our Citizens spread across London, Berlin, and Johannesburg—our story began in 2015, in the city of Akure, dotted by mountains and punctuated by age-old trees.

Victor Fatanmi
CEO & Co-founder

Also known simply as Fá, Victor started out as a graphic designer in 2011 and followed the path of purpose as he sought to help clients achieve more while creating a platform for other designers on campus to grow, a journey eventually leading to co-founding FourthCanvas in 2015 with his uni roommate who naturally brought structure to his creative leaning.

Powered by insights from this experience, he continues to advise startup founders, mentor designers, and also recently co-founded Fullgap, a digital tool borne out of an attempt to automate the client onboarding process at FourthCanvas. In 2023, this earned him The Future Awards Prize for Technology, followed by an induction to the Ife Kingdom by The Ooni as a recipient of the Royal African Awards in 2024. He continues to rediscover his own voice while helping other people and businesses create and earn more value.

COO & Co-founder

Bolaji is a respected builder with a deep sense of operations management and system design. With his natural traits for structure honed by several experiences including paramilitary involvements earlier on, Bolaji provided the missing piece as he collaborated with his graphic designer uni roommate to build what has over a decade later, become Nigeria’s #1 design agency and a prominent name beyond.

He believes strongly that structural excellence is the key to unlock creative potential, and he has proven this as he guided our incredible growth over the years, as well as with Fullgap, the digital tool inspired by automating the admin processes he created and manages here at FourthCanvas.

Bolaji emphasizes self-leadership, collaboration and a relentless pursuit of excellence, values he daily embodies as a leader of leaders.

Mary Afolabi
Partner, Design

Mary is a vastly experienced and consistently inspired designer with a portfolio of remarkable work over the past decade. Sauntered into art as a kid from exposure to great music, storytelling, and visual arts through creatively inclined teachers and mentors who went beyond the art, to the heart, Mary believes in the potential of art to influence people and solve problems, and this brings an evidently fresh perspective to her work.

For over 10 years, she has worked as a creative director and collaborated on projects with several notable brands across different sectors, including Urgent Action Africa where she worked with leaders from 5 countries across East Africa; UK-based FoodLama, as well Nigeria’s leading VC firm, Ventures Platform, to name a few.

Mary holds a B.Hons in Fine and Applied Arts (Obafemi Awolowo University) where she majored in painting and minored in graphic design, earning a feature in the prestigious Best of Ife Art Hall of Fame (2015).

Mary is committed to the development of young people honing their skills in design and art, and she has expressed this through participating in countless design trainings, creating a curriculum that has been employed in teaching hundreds of designers across the country, sharing her ideas on major platforms like the Social Media Week Lagos and most recently launching her book on colours — a topic everyone looks up to her for in the Nigerian creative industry.

She speaks English, Yoruba, and Greek, sings so well like she could have made it as a musician, and boasts of daily waking up to the most beautiful smiles in the entire universe — her two kids and husband. We agree.

Partner, Design

Tunji is a brand designer and strategist with close to a decade of creating brand identities and visual communication for ambitious organizations around the world. From some of Africa’s most ambitious organizations, including M-KOPA, Piggyvest, Lagos Business School, Nigerian Breweries, Nomba to US organizations like Nike, Inc. and Apple Inc. through AKQA, Mozilla, Kenvue (Johnson & Johnson) as well brief contract engagements with AARP, Justworks and R/GA, the width of Tunji’s impact delivering creative work at the highest standards is nothing short of inspiring.

Respected for his depth of thinking, Tunji has led, taught, and inspired a generation of designers across Africa, through his articles, talks and most remarkably, the DearDesigner mentorship program in 2020 through which he collaborated with 40 design mentors to guide 100 designers.

With a keenness for enabling high performance through a great culture, high design standards and processes for quality assurance, Tunji’s leadership within FourthCanvas helps to drive our mission of sustainable brand transformation for our clients.

Described by most first for his deep care for people and commitment to their growth, he spends his time off the computer visiting or hosting friends sometimes bringing everyone within arm’s length into his love for football from Arsenal FC and music from Adekunle Gold, whether they care or not.

People Operations Lead

With an endearing people-first approach to her work over the years, from business to not-for-profit, Oluremi has forged strong relationships and inspired remarkable results. Alongside helping people reach their best capabilities, she makes an example of herself with her work in the rarely explored field of olfactory design in Nigeria, as well as her design of experiences from events to tours and gifting.

While Oluremi’s work today seem a distant deviation from her degree in Computer Science & Engineering from UIST, Ohrid, North Macedonia, it suggests where some of her sense of structure and systems might have been honed.

Oluremi is respected for her great conviction across different dimensions, including faith, and is committed to leadership that can be both firm on high performance and kind in expression, bringing this on board daily she ensures that our people at FourthCanvas are supported and overall productivity is enhanced.

Wilfred Alfred
Senior Strategist

Wilfred combines a depth of knowledge — acquired from a lifestyle of studying research reports, partly inspired by his degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of PortHarcourt — with a rich direct experience helping business leaders rethink their potential advantages. Starting out as a graphic designer, and going on to co-found a startup with his colleagues while on campus, he built a work ethic of connecting dots and thinking fast to meet business objectives leading to a pragmatic approach he continues to to bring to his work at FourthCanvas, both internally and in direct service to our clients.

With how much time he spends on anything on the screen involving Christopher Nolan or Matt Reeves and a personality that may appear too friendly for what you might expect of an academically inclined strategist, he bears an intriguing mix of qualities with which he effortlessly influences thought, people and change.

Wilfred brings his strengths together as he leads brand strategy on some of our most important projects, including among others, Pesa — perhaps his favourite project so far — on which he thoroughly collaborated with the founders to drive the repositioning of a cross-border payment startup that has now processed over $250 Million in transactions.

Wilfred is a Certified VisionCamp® Graduate (2023) — Global expert in vision and visionary leadership, a qualification that is readily corroborated by everyone who has worked with him.

Finance Lead

In an unlikely but inspiring evolution from interest to purpose, Timilehin has grown over the years from starting out as a graphic designer here at FourthCanvas to balancing strategic foresight with operational excellence as our Finance Lead.

Currently a doctoral student at the Metallurgy Engineering department of University of Johannesburg, South Africa where he does research on application of machine learning to the optimization and synthesis of new engineering materials, he connects the dots with finding patterns and actionable insights in financial data outside the walls, building upon his earlier study of Finance and Financial Management at Corporate Finance Institute Vancouver, Canada.

Timi is passionate and driven about growth — committed to professional development, continuous learning, and empowering others within the organization.

You genuinely can’t tell what Timi does alone in his quiet time but he surely gets a lot of them, and consistently emerges with a precision with which he makes an example of process excellence for everyone at FourthCanvas.
